- [Narrator] "Montana PBS Equal Time" offering unedited time to candidates for Attorney General.
(intense music) As a member of the State Land Board, how would you balance quality public access with development of natural resources?
- As a native Montanan and someone who enjoys the outdoors, I strongly believe that maintaining public lands and public access is critical.
Public lands are a big part of our way of life in Montana and make our state special.
It does not matter who you are or how much money you have, we all get to enjoy our public lands.
I would focus on using the land banking program to sell land that cannot be accessed by the public at fair market value and use those funds to acquire land that can be accessed by the public.
The Montana State Trust lands also have a constitutional purpose to generate money for public schools and other institutions.
Each project needs to be evaluated based on its individual merits, which means the nature of the land, its historical uses and location, and then make an intelligent, informed decision about how to move forward.
(intense music) - [Narrator] Incumbent Attorney General Austin Knudsen declined to participate in this "Election's Montana PBS Equal Time" program.
